The City of Carson is extending its one-time Emergency Rental Assistance (ERA) to individuals and families renting in Carson and financially impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic until funds run out.

The financial assistance is available for up to a maximum of $10,000 and based on actual need for monthly rent payment, and does not have to be repaid.

Per City Council direction to assist Carson renters directly impacted by the COVID-19 pandemic, staff has developed the following rental assistance program for renters who:

• Meet the income qualification (less than $63,100 for individuals and up to $90,100 for a family of 4)
• Demonstrate financial hardship due to COVID-19, such as loss of employment, reduction of work hours, or reduced wages.

• Must be a residential renter in the City of Carson.
• Must have a current and valid lease or proof or rent payment history.
• Renter must demonstrate a financial hardship as a direct result of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“It is the desire of the City to fulfill its commitment to be able to assist as many individuals in the community that has a COVID-19-related financial hardship, including students in non-university housing. The City is excited to announce this second round of funding for the rental assistance program,” said Carson Mayor Albert Robles.
